We rang in the New Year at Janet and Lee Will's home with dear friends!
This is Maya and Dax playing with some of the treasures from the Will Toy Box. And of course, there were lots of games and good food!
Happy 2010!

Thank you, Cousin Carolyn!

A mysterious box showed up on our doorstep....... (not really, the mail carrier brought it and it had a return address, but let's pretend) we opened it to find......cool stuff - presents from Cousin Carolyn and Steve and Andrea! Such fun!
(I have no idea why the pic is sideways, ugh, and can't fix it!)

Christmas Morning
These pics are backwards again....it's a blogger-thing. Maya is painting a "thank-you-painting" for Santa and Mrs. Claus. Awwww........ isn't she a sweetie?
Maya named her Zhu Zhu, Bert, and gave him a ride on the little pony motorcycle.
Wayne's first attempt at coffee cake (from scratch) and a good shot of his penguin mug. Maya, Grandma and I went to a ceramics shop in Valparaiso. Maya went through all the different items and chose this penguin coffee mug. I'm not sure why, but it's cute! So we painted it, wrote, "To: Daddy, From: Mommy and Maya, Happy Christmas, 2009" and left it there to be fired. Grandma picked up for us and we gave it to him on Christmas Eve.
Maya asked for a train in her letter to Santa and a train she got!
We're assembling the Zhu Zhu pet habitat.
Fridge Phonics.
It's a Princess Skittle Car - propelled by kid power! So cool!
Huggin' the stuffing out of that pink dinosaur. Happy girl!
There was also a "pink dinosaur" in Maya's wish list letter to Santa and the big guy delivered!
Maya let us sleep in, until 8:30 or so. She wasn't in a big hurry to go downstairs, I think she was a bit afraid that Santa might still be around, hehehe. She came down the steps, and then checked out the reindeer food. Those hungry reindeer at all of it!! Then we came around the kitchen corner and Wow! Her eyes little up like.... well, like a little kid on Christmas morning!
So much fun!

Christmas Eve with Grandparents
We had a delicious spaghetti dinner after Mass and then time for opening presents with Grandma and Grandpa! Maya was so excited!! She helped each of us with our gifts and was truly excited and happy with every one.... The pictures go backwards (oops). The wreckage ;)
The recordable Night Before Christmas. Hallmark will NOT ask us to make a commercial, hehehe.
Grandma opening her Pandora Christmas Tree bead.
Maya with her remote control My Little Pony motorcycle. This was so fun for everyone - definitely a Christmas-present-top-three for us.
Daddy was happy with his peanuts, hehehe. A good snack for when he watches his "Christmas Story" dvd and drinks from his penguin cup. We gotcha covered, Dad.
Grandpa with a new "Maya-tie"Maya helped all of us open our gifts (she's just helpful like that, hahaha). Here she's helping Grandpa open his music box that plays, It's a Wonderful World. That's the last song on the lullaby cd that I played when I put her to bed as a baby. She always knew it was time to go to sleep when she heard that one start. It's always been a favorite of Wayne's and Maya calls it "my song".
Grandma and Grandpa gave Wayne a new shirt. Stylin' !
Wayne gave us each a box of Turtles (check out grampy's bulging cheek). It was appreciated by all!
Maya helping Grandma open her Fanny May.
Grandma gave Maya new outfits!!! You rock, Grandma!!
I took the pictures so you'll just have to pretend I'm opening a K cup holder from Grandma and Grandpa. Wayne was so cute and gave me a box with three envelopes. The first one said "take this" and there was some money inside. The second one said, "here" and there was a business card for Ashley's Jewelry, and the third one said, "and do this". There was a picture of my engagement ring inside and he had written "resize" on it.

Glaze of Ice
We went to Christmas Eve 4:00 pm Mass at St. Pat's with Grandma and Grandpa. There had been an ice storm that created a glaze of shining ice over everything - so beautiful. All the stretches of flat land were smooth and shone bright in the evening lights. Something about ice on pine and holly is so beautiful to me... These were outside the church.
