On the Road Again - Brown County

Wayne, Maya, Fred, Carol, Linda and I set off for the Abe Martin Lodge in Brown County, Indiana. My parents are going to meet us there in a few days. We're staying from Monday to Saturday. This is the covered bridge at the entrance and Maya and I in front of the lodge.

Company's Here!

Wayne, his sister Carol, Carol's husband Fred, Wayne's sister Linda and Maya-paya.

We picked up Wayne's sister, Carol and her husband Fred today. They are here visiting from Henderson, Nevada. Yay! Everyone is healthy this trip! I'm so happy to have them stay with us. I actually finished decorating the guest room. Well, I'm never really finished....but you know what I mean.

We visited Fred and Carol last year, and Maya remembers her "Aunt Karo" and "Uncle Fred", and where she saw mountains and palm trees. Maya is SO excited about having what she calls, Company. "When is my Company coming? Where is my Company? I can't wait for my Company!" I'm thrilled that they can get to know each other well - nothing like seeing our little peanut in her pajamas, first thing in the morning or last thing at night and everything in between. Maya loves, loves, loves parties and family and lots of people around. My social butterfly....I love Maya so much and am very thankful to have family or dear friends around her as often as possible.

Demise of a Cupcake

This was the cutest little Ghost Cupcake that I didn't get a picture of before it was devoured by an adorable Maya-Monster :)
Chesterton has a wonderful new patisserie. Grandma, Grandpa, Maya and I went there for lunch. Yummmmmmmmmmmy! A bit cher, but quite delicious.

SO, SO, SO much fun !!!

Maya and I had SO much fun yesterday !!! Dianne and Bill, if you read this, thank you so much for including us in your family's Halloween Pumpkin tradition ! It's hard to tell who enjoyed it more, Maya or me. We haven't laughed so much as we did in the Corn Maze. You two have an awesome family. So fun and caring and fun and teasing and fun and loving and fun and awesome and did I mention fun?

Dianne and Bill have a tradition to go to a farm in Wanatah with their kids and grandkids to pick pumpkins; take a hayride; roast hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire; tell stories around the fire and scare each other in the corn maze. Maya and I missed the pumpkin and hayride part while she took a nap, but we loved every minute of the rest. The kids had glow-in-the-dark bracelets and flashlights. They had a blast chasing each other and just generally running around and giggling. They played duck races, climbed haystacks, buried each other in corn kernels - what a blast!

Wayne couldn't come because he was playing in a bridge tournament. He was sorry to miss it, but they did come in first place so he was consoled.

I only took one picture ( I know, bizarre for me!) but it was dark, dark, dark! This is Maya and Bella in the corn kernels.

Halloween Preview

Maya wants to dress-up as Batcat for Halloween. Batcat is a cartoon-on-a-cartoon. Charlie and Lola watch batcat cartoons on tv or at the movies.

We tried on her costume today.....here's a Halloween preview. Do you think Maya is becoming an actress?

It's raining leaves!

Whenever we leave Grandma and Grandpa, we have to have a kiss and a hug. These are at Sunrise after our Sunday breakfast.

Friday was the celebration of the final regular season game at Brickie Bowl! Wayne has been going to high school football there since his own years at HHS - over 45 years. Our cousin, Jaime, was in the singing group Wolffgang and sang the national anthem along with other alumni. It was a very special night. Maya and I were only able to stay about an hour and we didn't see any of the game because it started to rain, but she did get to see the band and Jaime. "Mommy, look TUBAS". Maya and I have a "tuba-thing" from Little Einsteins. I tease her about having tubas under her arms when I tickle her. She "plays the tuba" with a hangar. She was happy to see them in real life :) instead of just on tv.

Brickie Bowl (Hobart, Ind.)Named after the brick-making factories that used to dominate the Gary, Ind., area, this stadium is home to Hobart High and was constructed in 1939 through the government-funded Works Progress Administration. It sits near the district's middle school In a downtown area with no true parking lot. Duck Creek runs under the aluminum bleachers on the visitors' side and circles the east end of the stadium. Train tracks run directly above and behind the visitors' seats. The trains often pass by during games, sounding their horns only when Hobart's opponents are on offense. When the creek overflows, the field is flooded with water and fish. The west end zone opens up to several homes with backyards sometimes filled with tailgating parties and bonfires. Hobart has been to 11 state finals, and once had a 71-game home winning streak.
